Upcoming Events in 2008: "Mother's Day Flower Show and Tea " May 10 - 24, 2008 "The Impressionist Challenge" - reception is June 7. 3 - 7 pm. A three-artist show featuring Leslie Allen, Cindy Carrillo, and Kendra Page - it will close June 20. "Bernard Marks" July 25 - August 9, 2008 "Mountain Summertime" August 29 - September 13, 2008. Return of Women Artists of the West with another fabulous show! Reception on August 30. "Paint the Aspens!" October 10 -25, 2008 "Out of Many, One" by owner-artist Gwen Pentecost was accepted into the "Top One Hundred of Paint America, 2007. To see more about the contest, go to http://paintamerica.org. Fun stuff: Gwen is also in the middle of a commissioned mural of the Catalina Mountains near Tucson - its 50" x 9 ft...progress image can be found here. We packed up the Mountain Holiday show and sent the artwork back to the artists - if you see anything you like, we can always retrieve it for you if it isn't sold already. In addition, we are retaining a few artists as permanent additions to the Gallery. Leslie Allen, Maryann Bodnar Bartman, Yvonne Kitchen, Janice Muir, Elin Pendleton, and Collins Redman will be joining us regularly. Leslie Allen is a top flight landscape impressionist from Colorado. Maryann Bodnar Bartman does wonderful paintings in gouache, and our customers truly love her wolf series (you HAVE to see "Bein Bad"). Yvonne Kitchen's bronze equine sculptures, particularly her Horse Madonna series, are exquisite, and she has even sent us a bugling elk! I love the authentic feeling in Janice Muir's "Winter Mesa" as well as her other work. Collins Redman hails from both New Mexico and Colorado, and her work is very evocative the west as it is expressed in those states. We will be carrying a number of her wonderful monotypes as well. Elin and Gwen have painted together for fifteen years, and her plein air work will find a home here. She's an awesome author and workshop teacher, too, and a frequent visitor to Paint the Aspens. And the biggest news: WE'VE EXPANDED! As of mid-February, we now occupy the space behind us as well as our suite on the highway at 1869 White Mountain Blvd., virtually doubling the show space. Stop by! |
